Furniture repair in Mumbai — when it is worth doing
Some furniture in a Mumbai home should be repaired. Some should be replaced, and paying for a repair first only delays that. Mumbai Master Carpentry will say which is which. We fix hinges, channels, dropped doors, lifted edge banding, and polish on a carcass that is still sound. We do not pretend a swollen, soft box will become new because it was sanded.

Often worth repairing
- Hinges that have pulled, or a door that has dropped and still has sound board behind the screws
- Drawer channels that have failed while the drawer box is intact
- Edge banding that has lifted while the core is still firm
- A polish or a local scratch on solid wood, or on a laminate face that is not bubbling
- A shutter that can be rehung, or a handle that needs a proper fixing
These are ordinary carpentry jobs. They are worth doing when the piece is otherwise straight and the room is staying.
Often not worth repairing
- Particle board or a cheap carcass that has swollen and stayed soft after wetting
- A kitchen box around the sink that no longer holds screws
- A wardrobe back or side that has buckled and does not return when it dries
- Repeated monsoon swelling in the same spot — the leak or the missing edge is still there
- A door leaf that has swollen out of the frame and does not shrink back
If replacement is the honest quote, we say so before you spend money on a repair that will fail in the next rain. A new door is on custom doors in Mumbai. A new console is on TV units. Monsoon damage, without the drama
Humidity in Mumbai shows up as a lifted edge, a sticky drawer, a bathroom door that rubs, or a sink cabinet that smells damp. The useful question is whether the board dried stable. If it did, a hardware fix or a new edge can be enough. If the board is soft, replacement of that box — not the whole house — is usually the better spend.
Carpentry does not stop a leak from the bathroom above or a failed waterproofing layer. We will tell you when the wet is a plumbing or civil problem. Day-to-day care that actually helps is on monsoon care for kitchens and wardrobes.

Work we do is covered by our 1-year workmanship warranty. We cannot warranty a carcass that was already failing, or a material you asked us to patch against our advice. The full project process applies when the repair turns into a new piece.

No. If the board is soft, swollen and staying swollen, or no longer holds screws, we recommend replacement of that part or the whole piece. We would rather decline a repair than take payment for work that will not last the monsoon.
Yes, when the substrate is sound. Polish does not fix a delaminated board. We look at the piece before we quote a finish.
No. We do not publish a repair menu. Hinges, a polish, and a failed carcass are different jobs. You get a scope after we see the piece, in photos first and on site if a visit is justified.
Yes, when that is the fault. New hinges or channels in sound board are a normal job. If the screw holes are blown out, the quote includes a proper fixing or a new shutter, not the same screws in the same dust.
Sometimes, for a polish or a proper repair. Sometimes the work is on site. We say which, and whether removal is part of the quote.
