Loft storage cost in Mumbai: overhead storage in flats
Loft and overhead storage in a Mumbai flat is extra board, extra shutters, and extra labour above the main wardrobe or along a passage. It is not included in the ₹22,000 indicative starting band for a roughly 6×8 ft hinged wardrobe. Height to the slab, a beam in the way, how you reach it, shutter versus open shelf, and a damp external wall are what move the quote. We price it on the measured visit, with the wardrobe or as its own line.

We do not publish a separate rupee rate for “a loft”, because a shuttered loft over an 8 ft wardrobe and a single open shelf in a passage are not the same job.
What actually changes the price

Mumbai flats
Older buildings in Fort, Dadar, and Bandra often have a beam, a loft that was built in place years ago, or a ceiling that is not level. We measure the opening the box has to fill, including the beam a drawing from another flat would miss. Society lift rules matter if the shutter is long. Tell us the loading window at the visit. Humidity up high
A loft on an external wall, or under a slab that sweats in the monsoon, is not a dry cupboard just because it is near the ceiling. Moisture still enters at a cut edge. Ask for carcass grade and closed edges on that line. An open shelf ventilates better than a sealed box of damp quilts. Do not push wet luggage to the back panel and shut it until June. Compare loft lines, not lump sums
On every wardrobe quote, tick: overall size, door type, whether the loft is included, shuttered or open, carcass grade, and removal of the old loft. A low figure that stops at 7 ft and a figure that includes a shuttered loft to the slab are different jobs. The kitchen quote checklist is the same discipline applied to another room.
